Dr. Goodwin has practiced in his present office in Viewmont since June of 1999.
A graduate of University of Tennessee School of Dentistry in Memphis, Dr G spent several years in the US Navy before beginning private practice in Hickory and as a matter of fact, in Viewmont.
An Alumnus of The Dawson Academy of Dental Excellence in St. Petersburg, Florida, Dr.G has also attended courses at the Pankey Institute in Miami, Florida. He continues to attend twice yearly courses at the Dawson Academy. Believing that comprehensive dentistry requires ongoing comprehensive training, Dr. G attends many hands-on courses for new innovations in dentistry.
Taking his team with him, he attends each March the Hinman Dental Meeting in Atlanta. The team is then challenged to bring back their favorite topic or new skill and teach the team. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, and the Foothills Seattle Study Club. He is also an associate member of the Georgia Dental Society.
Having practiced in the metro Atlanta area from 1983 until returning to Hickory in 1999, Dr. G much prefers the family oriented community of Hickory and CatawbaCounty to the kinetic and ever-changing practice environment of a metropolitan area.
Dr. G and his wife, Sharon are very glad to once again call Hickory home. They are active members of The Church of the Ascension, Episcopal. When not seeing patients, he loves playing golf, snow skiing, and hiking. Being involved with community and church is one of his great pleasures. He has served on Vestry and is active in the Ascension Men's Group.
